Pastor's Thoughts
As we wrap up our season of reflection on the Fruit of the Spirit, I'd like to leave you with a few ideas that came up throughout this series:
The fruit of the Spirit (love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control) is more than a list of positive personality traits; this is nothing less than a description of the character of God as demonstrated to us in Jesus Christ.
These qualities describe the kind of person that God wants you to become - and that He created you to be.
You cannot produce this good fruit on your own - every follower of Jesus is given the Holy Spirit to empower you to produce this good fruit in your life.
God does not produce this fruit in you automatically - it is a cooperative effort which God calls you to participate in - it requires effort and intentionality on your part.
Growing in the fruit of the Spirit is a life-long process - it is your most important life project.
The blessing to God and to you is the person that you are becoming.
I am confident of this, that the one who began a good work in you will bring it to completion by the day of Jesus Christ. - Philippians 1:6
I hope that this extended reflection upon the Fruit of the Spirit has been a blessing and an encouragement to you. I hope that it has given you a fresh vision for what God wants to be doing in your life. As you grow more like Christ, God will bless the world through you.
Pastor Chris
