Vision Statement:  Park Blvd. Presbyterian Church....where lives change for Good.

Mission Statement: The mission of Park Blvd. Presbyterian Church is to glorify God by engaging minds and guiding hearts in a life-changing relationship with Jesus Christ.

Purpose: To produce followers of Jesus Christ.
Park Blvd Presbyterian Church (PBPC) serves the Glenview and Montclair neighborhoods of Oakland, CA.  Our congregation has about 110 members, with regular Sunday worship attendance of about 120 members, friends and visitors.  All our congregants are ministers, and we are led, supported, and encouraged in our ministry by our staff, our elders, and our deacons.  To see our Mission Study, click HERE.

PBPC is a member of the Presbytery of San Francisco of the Presbyterian Church, USA.  In its governance, it is guided by the Book of Order.  In its faith, it is guided first by Scripture and then the Book of Confessions.

Elders
The Elders are responsible for the spiritual and organizational leadership of the church.  They are chosen by the congregation to serve on the Session, the governing council of the congregation.  Together with the Pastor, they are to strengthen and nurture the people in their faith and life, to encourage the people in the worship and service of God, and to equip and renew the people for their own ministries.  PBPC has nine Elders who each serve three-year terms.

Deacons
Deacons are specially called to minister to those who are in need, to the sick, to the friendless, and to any who may be in distress. The Deacons are chosen by the congregation to assist the Session, the governing council of the congregation.  Each week, a Deacon is on call as Deacon of the Week to be especially available to people's needs that arise that week.  PBPC's Deacons each serve three-year terms. Currently our Deacons are Blain, Donna, Gwen, Gail, Paula, and Peggy
Worship

In worship, the worship leaders are the prompters, while the people are the actors.  God is the Audience of One. (attributed to Soren Kierkegaard)

PBPC's Mission and History

During the recent transition time between called pastors, PBPC underwent a Mission Study process.  During this time the congregation reflected on its history, its current status, and its sense of God's calling for its ministry and mission at the corner of Park Boulevard and Hampel Street.  "Harnessing History's Horsepower" is a brief summary of PBPC's story--click HERE.  The results of the  Mission Study - our definition of our Vision, Mission, and Goals - are also available--click HERE.
