is a 10 week adventure which
explores the basic precepts of Christianity, those shared by all Christians in
all denominations. This adventure is starting again September 14 and welcomes newcomers
for the first three weeks. Will you be

PBPC and The Glenview Moms,
a.k.a. The Coffee Shop Moms,
meet the first Thursday of each month throughout the year, from 9:30 a.m. to
11:30 a.m. Moms can join us for coffee, and bagel and opportunity to meet
other moms in the neighborhood, while the little ones play.
Moms and babies drop by anytime (we know getting organized with wee ones is
tough!) between 9:30 and 11:30.
- Widows/Widowers Grief Recovery
- This is a ten week class and support group for widows and widowers who
are recently bereaved and trying to move through the grieving

last two hours and meet at various convenient times
during the week, at local area Presbyterian
churches.
Boy
Scouts, Troop 271
Troop 271 of the Boy Scouts of America invites boys age 11
to 18 years old to join them on Tuesday nights, 7:30 to 9:00 p.m. in the PBPC
St. James Hall. All are welcome!
Daniel, a Life Scout, has been a Scout for four
years. He started at age 10. He says,
"I like scouting because it gives me something to
do. I get to do a lot of outdoor activities like fishing, camping,
hiking, and swimming. We also participate in community service. I
also get to earn badges and meet new friends. My goal is to get Eagle
Scout by 15 years old."
In the last couple years, Troop 271 Boy Scouts have
- gone on a 10-day trip to Colorado.
- participated in the Scouts for Food community service
project. They collected food in the Glenview District and delivered
the food to a food bank.
- gone on camping trips to Del Valle, Tilden Park, Point
Reyes, and Dillon Beach, to name a few. They usually camp out once a
month.
- gone to Scout-a-rama.
- gone to the Field Sports Campout in Los Mochos,
Livermore.
Troop 271 has been meeting at PBPC since 1923! It started off as Troop
71, but over the years, became Troop 271. Since 1975, this troop has
produced 13 Eagle Scouts. For more information, you may email the

Troop 1150
Girl Scout Troop 1150 is a multi-level, multi-cultural
troop which encourages family involvement. Currently it includes some 70
girls from Daisy Scouts to Senior Scouts! All are welcome to come visit or
join. Troop meetings are generally held every other Saturday morning at
PBPC. Daisies and Brownies meet from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., and Juniors,
Cadettes, and Seniors meet from 10:00 a.m. to noon.
Aimee, a Junior Scout, has been a member for 4
years. She says,
"I enjoy teaching the younger girls and helping
people out. I like the activities like arts and crafts, learning
leadership skills, going camping, and getting to participate in all kinds of
activities. It's fun and I have met new friends."
In the last couple years, Troop 1150 Girl Scouts have
- visited England (Seniors and Cadettes).
- camped overnight on the USS Hornet in Alameda.
- camped at Caswell State Park, Manteca (Juniors).
- participated in various community service projects and
City of Oakland events, such as the Unveiling of the Cheemah Statue in Jack
London Square.
- held workshops on hula dancing, self defense, belly
dancing, sewing, and photography. These workshops were coordinated by
Troop 1150 parents.
- held special fund raising events such as a college talk
and rummage sale (Cadettes and Seniors).
- participated in a retreat for Catholic Girl Scouts.
- celebrated Thinking Day and Awards Ceremonies.
- participated in Girl Scout Association activities.
including Great America Day, ice skating, and the Oakland Holiday Parade.
