More About Who We
Are
Elders
- Martha--Clerk of Session/Fellowship
Team
. |
One could call Martha a native
Presbyterian. Born and raised in the Presbyterian Church,
Martha uses humor and persistence to help our Session and PNC accomplish
their objectives
the Presbyterian way. Martha also has a desire and a practical
plan to deepen the friendships in our congregation and
guests. Stop by her house and have lunch the third Sunday of the
month!
When she's not bringing structure to PBPC,
Martha spends much energy bringing structure, learning and caring
to elementary special ed students. This has been her
personal area of ministry for over 15 years. Martha also cares for two
cats, one husband and an army of nieces, nephews, godchildren and
students. Martha and her husband enjoy traveling at every
opportunity.

- Gene
|
Gene has a servant's heart, which
he delights in using for the church. Gene’s ministries at PBPC
have run the gamut from ushering,
to processing cash receipts, to leading Bible studies, to
moderating the Deacons, to cooking church family meals, to singing
in the choir, and to helping with many buildings and grounds
projects, and probably more we would only notice if it
wasn't done. Out of all that, he says his greatest joy in
ministry is greeting people arriving for worship on
Sunday mornings and giving them a welcome they'll want to return
to!
Gene is the gentle patriarch of a lineage
which includes three children, three stepchildren, five
grandchildren and five greatgrands! While he's retired from paid employment,
most weekdays Gene arrives at the church office by 7:00 a.m. to
start the coffee! In the afternoons, he enjoys auto
mechanics and oil painting. Be sure to ask him about his farm boy
childhood as a neighbor of Knotts Berry Farm when it was a farm, his experience as a paratrooper on D-Day and at the
Battle of the Bulge, or his adventures racing autos, speed boats,
and hydroplanes. |

Greg
 |
Greg has been active at PBPC
longer than I can remember. When you walk into the sanctuary
on Pentecost to find it entirely draped in RED,
or during Advent to encounter an exquisite new mosaic or oil painting hanging in front, you
can guess that Greg has been at work! Greg employs his
considerable artistic talents to spearhead the Visual Liturgy
Ministry. Greg also serves as a worship leader and sings
tenor with our Exaltation Singers Choir. Greg earns his
paycheck working on computers and microscopes in the Biology
Department of San Francisco State University and used his
technology skills to launch this website! The multi-talented
Greg has also been the Elder of Finance, taught
Sunday school and served on the Mission Study Team.
In his spare time, Greg has been found
disassembling and reassembling a VW bus, taking flying lessons, and
creating illustrations on his computer. |

- Wayne--Finance Team
 |
For years Wayne has been greeting
us warmly when we arrive for worship every Sunday morning.
He's long been involved in our Men's Ministries, including the
Men's Breakfast, the Men's Bible Study, and various work
parties. Now he's been tapped to put his business acumen to
use for the benefit of our congregation as the Elder in charge of
our Finance & Administration.
Weekdays, Wayne works as a sales rep selling
business equipment. In his off time he is an avid
golfer. His wife Chris is also fan of hitting little
balls, but her passion is for tennis. |

- John--Missions/Evangelism
Team
 |
Several years ago, John's life
was completely turned around by meeting Jesus Christ! And
since then he has been sharing his love of Jesus with all God's
people. He's been involved with a number of different
ministries at PBPC, but these days he's involved playing keyboard
for worship, coordinating our wonderful Block Parties, convening
the prayer team, and
co-facilitating the Alpha program with his wife Gail.
Outside PBPC John works as a consultant to
start-up businesses. He and Gail have a grown daughter who
is an artist in the Bay Area. |
|
- Cindy--Worship
Team
 |
If Martha is a native
Presbyterian, Cindy is a native PBPC-er. Born and raised,
married and matured in this congregation, Cindy has served in many
ways over the years. Over the years her ministries have
encompassed Children's Education and Adult Small Groups, Worship leadership,
the Albania Mission Trips, hosting 3rd Sunday lunches, and
spearheading our 40 Days Campaign. Weekdays, she teaches and
mentors 7th graders at a private Christian school.
Weekends Cindy enjoys pruning her roses, canning the apricots from her tree,
and visiting her new grandson. She and her husband Jon enjoy
travel and love to fly standby at the drop of a hat. |

- John
 |
John may have
originally come to faith in order to win his sweetheart, but
now he's been a Christian longer than I've been alive--so I guess
it stuck. John is passionate about Men's Ministries and is
the faithful cook at Saturday morning Men's Breakfast.
Having known God's love personally, he is always looking for ways
to share it with others.
John is a retired engineer. When he
downsized and moved out of his family home he had to divest of his
woodworking machinery, but he is a master woodworker by
avocation. He and his wife Ella Jane have three daughters
and numerous grand- and great-grandchildren. They are also
great socialites in their retirement community!

- Fred--Missions/Evangelism
Team
 |
Fred grew up in the church, but
lost interest in it as a young adult. When he thought to
come back, he found his way to Alpha and then reconnected to the
church. He has been an enthusiastic Alpha leader for several
years. When Fred played in a rock band as a teen, he learned
to operate sound systems and now often runs the sound for our
worship services. Fred makes his living as a printer.
