Why is Helping Important?

Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. - Philippians 2:3

If you're seeking meaningful purpose in your life, you may have considered helping people through volunteering. Helping others is important because it is truly a "win-win" situation: sharing knowledge, giving time, lending energy and effort to assist those in need or unable to do things themselves can reveal to us just how valuable and essential each one of us is in this world, and we improve someone else's life in the process.

What's more, when we respond to people in need—especially when it requires us to step beyond our comfort zone, or to attempt something we thought was beyond our ability—we often learn great things about ourselves that help us grow, expand our boundaries, make new and lasting connections with others and change our lives for good.
