- Third Sunday at Noon
- Have you been to the Third Sunday
Fellowship Lunch? If you haven't, you are missing out. It's
usually held at Jon and Cindy's home or Blain and Martha's home, although
a couple other brave souls have occasionally offered their homes.
Whoever it is, they'll give you
directions Sunday morning, so...
-
- Come and leave...or come and
stay.
Catch up with someone you know... or
meet someone new.
Stand around the kitchen... or rest
your bones in a chair.
The discussion can finally move beyond,
"How ya doin'?" And the food's a treat.
- One month, the pumpkin soup was so
popular that there was a riot to get Martha's recipe. So here it is:
-
- Zesty Pumpkin Soup
- from Chrysanne Sauer, Livermore
-
-
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1 medium white or yellow onion, chopped
- 1 clove garlic, crushed
- 1 teaspoon curry powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/8 - 1/4 teaspoon ground coriander
- 1/8 teaspoon crushed dried red pepper flakes
- 2 1/2 cups chicken broth
- 1/2 cup Semillon or chardonnay
- 1 16 oz can solid pack pumpkin
- 1 cup half and half
- *You can add a garnish of sour cream and chives!
-
- In a large saucepan, melt butter. Sauté
onion and garlic until soft. Add curry powder, salt, coriander and red pepper flakes. Cook for one minute.
Add broth and wine. Boil gently, uncovered for 15-20 minutes. Stir in
pumpkin and half & half and cook for 5 minutes. Pour into blender container
and blend until creamy. Serve warm as is, or reheat to desired temperature.
This makes about 4 large servings...or enough for 6 small servings.
- Enjoy!!
