The Alpha Course
Who is Alpha for?
Alpha is for anyone interested in finding out more about the Christian faith in a fun and relaxed atmosphere. More than just learning, Alpha is about meeting others like you, building friendships, laughing and helping one another tackle common questions about life and God.
So if you're seeking to understand Christianity, we welcome all adults and Youth Group ages (9th-12th grade) from all faiths, cultures, ethnicities, economic and educational backgrounds to the Alpha Course. And for those who have taken the first Alpha Course and still want more, the Alpha 2 Course is for you.
What Happens at Alpha?
The Alpha course is based on a Lecture Series by the Reverend Nicky Gumbel. There is a series of talks on topics such as:
- Who Is Jesus?
- Why Did Jesus Die?
- Why and How Should I Read the Bible?
- Why and How Do I Pray?
- What About the Holy Spirit?
- How Can I Overcome Evil?
- Why and How Should I Tell Others?
- Does God Heal Today?
- What About the Church?
After each talk, there is a small-group time for everyone to discuss any questions or issues they have. This gives participants an opportunity to get to know each other and to learn together. The small groups give you a chance to discuss issues raised during the talks. Come with questions or listen in silence. Feel free to ask anything. Alpha is a place where no question is seen as hostile, too simple or too challenging to address.
